BiF (Backup Important Folders) is a free ad-hoc (on-demand) file

backup utility for Commercial or non-commercial use that does not

need to be installed.  It was designed primarily as a tool for use

with our DualDesk remote support software (www.dualdesk.com) but it

can be used as a stand-alone backup utility.



It's a work-in-progress but it may prove useful if you need a quick way

to backup folders or files that are locked.  You can also

use it to clone your entire drive if desired.



It's a quick backup utility that stores files un-compressed in another

folder or on another drive.  BiF is not a full-featured backup program.

It's designed for those times you need to do back up but don't have

time to run a full featured backup program or doing remote support on

a system that does not have a backup program installed.



If the user must have administrative privileges to backup some files

and folders.  On most systems you can even backup files and folders

that are locked.



How to use:



There is no installation required, simply extract BiF.exe to a folder

somewhere and run it.



If you run BiF with no command line parameters it will display prompts

to guide you through the backup process.



It will save your folder selections in the folder it was executed in.



If you prefer a silent backup, you can pass the necessary parameters

on the command line.



Command line usage:



  BiF.exe (<batch file>[/<Destination Folder>]



  Examples:

           BiF.exe

           BiF.exe C:\MyStuff\myBiF.cmd

           BiF.exe C:\MyStuff\myBiF.cmd/D:\MyBackups



Notice there is only a / and not a space between the script and the

destination parameters.



The folder name your files will be stored in is the date it was created

YYMMDD-hhmmss (060315-073059) 





The Windows Registry is always backed up.





Folders that are backed up if the default option is selected.
